Wychwood Children is an alchemical elixir of Musick and Magick conjured together by manifester and healer, Jenny Robert, from Timmins Ontario, and hermetic magician, Rikki LaCoste, of Toronto, two beloved musicians and community personalities in their own right, conjuring music together since their live debut in 2011. Since then, Wychwood Children have been performing their enchanting music, and have been increasingly sought after by communities and festivals between Ottawa and the Durham region.
OUR FIRST MUSIC VIDEO: Watch the World Breathe
Finally, WYCHWOOD CHILDREN has a music video. Well, a music video that isn’t simply live footage. We decided to create a video to a song that was very close to our hearts and whose subject matter was also dear to the majority of our fans: “Watch The World Breathe.” The footage in this video is mostly a compilation of the performances and slices of life we experienced over the past year or so since Wychwood Children have been in existence. It was put together as a THANK YOU to all of our friends, family, and fans for supporting and believing in us. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! For everything.
Special hellos and thank yous, in relation to this video, go to Smiling Buddha, Peter Rabbitt and John Santos of Luminis Animae and Green Bee Media, Gina Ellis, Alex del Busso, Aquila Club, Amanda Hyde and Amy Taylor who ran the HammerTown Pagan Pub Moot at the Corktown in Hamilton, Nik Beat of CIUT FM, Liz Guerrier of Daves… on St Clair, our two favourite Trac(e)ys, and Auz and Ma of Raven’s Knoll, who absolutely took us by complete surprise by their enormous and grateful support.
We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the people who spawned us, and got us started, and who inspired us deeply: the original Wychwood Collective. These are some of the most interesting and brilliant musicians we have ever had the privillege to play with, who include: Greg Currie, Natalie Rubyhill, Christine Gaidies, Robbie Wychwood, and Sean Peever.
Another huge acknowledgement is that the song was actually written by Jennifer Robert and her equally brilliant and talented little sister Stéphanie Robert! The Robert clan (endearingly pronounced Row-BEAR) is a deeply musical bear-family all across the board, from Timmins Ontario (yes, where Shania Twain comes from). Music seems to be part of their DNA. Practically a biological function akin to breathing! Steph presently lives in Montreal, is a singer, songwriter, professional dancer, and like her sister Jenny, also appears on the soundtrack of film credits. Here is Steph performing her song for the soundtrack for
